I really like this book because I like adventures and anyone who likes this book should also try and read The Dairy of a Wimpy Kid series。 Lastly, I like this book because of one eyes magical wizard cast a spell on the main characters neighbor which makes the main character goes on huge adventure for nothing。

Fun reading with my six-year-old son。 There are some Game of Thrones digs and other adult jokes, always enjoyable。 Rowley's cooler than Greg (er, Garg)。 Fun reading with my six-year-old son。 There are some Game of Thrones digs and other adult jokes, always enjoyable。 Rowley's cooler than Greg (er, Garg)。 。。。more

This was adorable。 Mimics kid writing very well and yet does a great job of hitting the tropes of the genre and the personalities of Rowley and Greg。

I COULD NOT TAKE HOW ICONIC THIS WAS

Read this with my son and we enjoyed it。 It has its laugh out loud moments and your moments where your gonna guess what Greg is going to do。 I thought it was cool to do a story inside a story。

I found this book yawn activating 🥱 most six year olds can write a more compelling story。

I didn't care about Rowley's story, but I liked the parts where Greg and Rowley talk about the book (they were very funny!)。 I didn't care about Rowley's story, but I liked the parts where Greg and Rowley talk about the book (they were very funny!)。 。。。more

It is good book from one of my favorite authors。 Unfortunately this latest book from Jeff Kinney is not very interesting as the earlier books from him。 He has attempted a new type of story line which I did not like much。

The story within the story is actually fairly well-written。 Let me know when Rowley's published it officially because I want in on that franchise! I love the twists, and hearing Greg's feedback after every chapter is great as well。 The story within the story is actually fairly well-written。 Let me know when Rowley's published it officially because I want in on that franchise! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I’ve been reading the Wimpy Kid books since 2007, my first year of junior high, which means I’ve been with Greg and co。 since the beginning。 What I grew to appreciate as I got older (and Greg stayed the same) is how Jeff Kinney nails what kids are like at that age。 I find most of it very realistic: having a best friend you don’t treat particularly well, thinking you’re so much better than your peers based on no evidence, the overwhelming selfishness that seems entirely justified。 Kinney exaggera I’ve been reading the Wimpy Kid books since 2007, my first year of junior high, which means I’ve been with Greg and co。 since the beginning。 What I grew to appreciate as I got older (and Greg stayed the same) is how Jeff Kinney nails what kids are like at that age。 I find most of it very realistic: having a best friend you don’t treat particularly well, thinking you’re so much better than your peers based on no evidence, the overwhelming selfishness that seems entirely justified。 Kinney exaggerates it, for sure, but nothing else I’ve read so accurately represents how a preteen feels and acts。That goes doubly so with this book。 I write, and the first story I ever did was in seventh grade, about my friends and me being wizards。 Everything Rowley did with his story was so true to that experience that I could have written this myself。 The text being filled with notes addressing the audience, werewolves and vampires that have no real purpose, a love plot that doesn’t go anywhere, and the best part, making a character based on your friend where you exaggerate their worst characteristics。The meta story of Rowley sharing the story was accurate too: how he showed it to Greg, who gave unhelpful notes, and the discussion of what the inevitable movie would be like, and talk of whether there should be morals or not。 This book 100% rang true to my own experiences as a twelve-year-old writing his first story, and the nostalgia alone makes it worth five stars。Not to mention it’s the funniest book I’ve read in a very long time: the vampire also being a werewolf that was just annoying rather than contributing anything to the plot, when Roland dumped out Garg’s bag and it was just full of weights, the Little Mermaid but not the Disney one, the Santa fight at the end。 I laughed out loud several times and even took pictures to send to people, and it’s been ages since I’ve found a book that funny。Tied for top Wimpy Kid book for sure, right up there with The Last Straw。 。。。more

Team Rowley! Of course I’m preferential to the kid who loves and centers his epic adventure around finding his mom。 Kids thought it was great!

Hooray for Rowley Jefferson, as he steps out of the shadow of Greg Heffley (sort of!) and “writes” his own adventure novel that is full of thrills, excitement, dangers, fascinating characters and well, lots of niceness! At least that’s how Rowley wants the story to be, but Greg’s editorial feedback sometimes gets in the way。 I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud while reading this charming book。 And I have developed a new appreciation for Rowley as a pretty darn good kid! This book is silly and a bit argumentative。 Rowley is writing a full-blown adventure book and asks his friend Greg to help him edit。 Greg continues to rip his work throughout。 It really shows the poor relationship the boys have and emphasizes the bad influence Greg has on his friend。 Rowley weaves a silly tale full of bravery and imagination。 Greg just can't take it。 He also thinks in terms of movies and other ways to capitalize on the product。 I think kids who enjoy the series will enjoy it but This book is silly and a bit argumentative。 Rowley is writing a full-blown adventure book and asks his friend Greg to help him edit。 Greg continues to rip his work throughout。 It really shows the poor relationship the boys have and emphasizes the bad influence Greg has on his friend。 Rowley weaves a silly tale full of bravery and imagination。 Greg just can't take it。 He also thinks in terms of movies and other ways to capitalize on the product。 I think kids who enjoy the series will enjoy it but to be honest, the whole new series showcases a bully-like relationship that is troubling but probably realistic。 Recommended for Grades 4-5。 。。。more

Greg is a better story teller than Rowley。

I loved the first Rowley Jefferson book。 Seeing things from Rowley’s perspective was refreshing and just as funny and entertaining as seeing things from Greg’s point of view。This book, however, fell short for me。 It just seemed to be missing Kinney’s usual magic and humor and took me forever to get through。
